Aldi Süd is one of the leading retailers in Europe. The company based in southern Germany operates more than 6500 supermarkets in 11 countries, from Germany, Switzerland, UK and Italy to China and the USA.
In early September 2024 they have launched a line of products made from #tide ocean material consisting of a sneaker and kitchenware. The items are available in their german, austrian and swiss stores. More products are coming soon.
The Aldi X #tide collection utilizes two different #tide products: recycled ocean-bound polypropylene pellets and recycled polyester yarn.

To promote the collaboration with #tide, Aldi Süd brought in the renowned German polar explorer, researcher, skipper and environmental activist Arved Fuchs. In 1989, he became the first person to reach both the North and South Poles on foot within one year. Since then, Fuchs has become a passionate advocate for the environment.
Part of his work focuses on educating school children about climate change. And with his wooden sailing boat, the Dagmar Aaen, he is on a multi-year expedition to collect data on how the ocean is affected by climate change. It's an honour to have such an accomplished environmentalist endorse our mission and products:

"The purchase of this ocean-bound plastic item helps to reduce ocean pollution and CO2 emissions, a vital concern in times of climate change where even a small contribution can make a big difference. The unique #tide program gives us the opportunity to close the circle of plastic pollution and actively contribute to #tide's environmental and social impact."
